The police asked Geraldine to take the sign down. Cars were obstructing the passage of traffic. She would've taken it down anyway. Last year, the strawberries and runner beans had been less popular. This year's cash crop vanished instantly. The basket was completely empty. Not even a floppy fiver. Gone.
