It seemed sensible to have a spare one to cater for visitors. Although she's embarrassed by what has happened, she has learned so much. Firstly, the gestation period of a teapot is two weeks. Initially, it emerges naked and unglazed. Secondly, it's important to protect the youngsters with a teacloth.

Each time she brought forth the teapot to the unsuspecting guests she was amazed at the varied reactions, some hid their faces in shame, recoiled in obvious horror, cried, while others sat wide mouths gaping in awe of this remarkable treasure and a little unsure of how to use it.

I will never look at teapots the same again! No wonder they have all those 'cosy' covers!
