My claim to fame...

Well, there I was thinking I might be remembered for my wit, or my incisive descriptive powers, or my ability to string two words together, but no! It seems I am 'one of the very few authors to walk round London in my bra'. Never mind, there's still time to sponsor me here and for those who have already, and I've been really moved by how many have, thankyouthankyouthankyou!

Seriously, I was really happy to have the chance to 'bare my literary bits' on Pulp, and although all the stories this edition are great, Sarah Butler's stood out for me.

Always good to read lists of peoples recommendations. I always end up adding things to my wishlists that way.

I really wish I could be more enthusiastic about short stories, but I just really struggle with them. I must try harder... they seem such a great form.

Interesting to read your thoughts on Carol Shields. I loved 'Larrys Party' and 'The Stone Diaries' but was really let down by 'Unless'. Can you recommend a good one to try next that might pick me up on her a bit?

Disappointed to see they didn't mention your serial for The Shed in your mini-biog.

For readers who missed the first installment in this exclusive story, copies are still available by emailing me via the Shedworking site.

You could try her short story collection, Dressing up for the Carnival - not too much effort involved in enjoying those, Jem!!! But you've inspired me, I'm going to do a post on Carol Shields!

Yes, Alex, I need to make more of my new role - Literary Editor, The Shed. I love that so much!

Thanks for the recommendation Sarah - added to my ever growing wishlist. Along with a couple of titles from your Book Depository Top Ten!

Ooo, which ones, Jem?

I added the Denton Welch and the Book of Orgasms as they both sounded interesting and unusual.

I already have the Paris Review book on a wishlist.

Now its just a matter of waiting...

I'm reading 'Gilead' at the moment, and I think I'm having a similar reaction to you, its good, but not that good. Although first person pastor is fair from my ideal narrator!

Hi Sarah,
Glad you liked the story - it's a rewrite of a scene from a novel that I'm hoping one day an agent might decide is worth representing...
Happy writing
Sarah Butler
