CAGED - A SNAP

They’ve locked up the writers, the actors and the artists. The world feels a safer place without imagination. Children taken to visit the prisons as a lesson are frisked carefully afterwards in case a metaphor escapes. Things need to stay exactly as they are. No images or stories. Just… things.

Sarah, that's really creepy. Love the idea of escaping metaphors!

When they'd first moved in together, Sheila hadn't noticed the peeling, grey paint, the mouldy corners or the old ladies' flowery curtains. Then the snow fell and they couldn't escape each other. One cold snap and their marriage shattered with the sharpness of an icicle javelined against a brick wall.

Thanks, goes nicely with the TED talk below! And yours is great. Very timely.

A distinctive but near invisible light shines vividly between the bars of boredom. Colourless skies have no stars and the sun is a pale grey. Until the jail door opens, no colour, fun or imagination will ride the wind again, people trapped with their dull robotic minds.

Love this, Keelan. A real feeling of imprisonment. Thanks for joining in.

No sir. I had to get out of there, you see. The bars become glass in moonlight. It doesn't happen often sir, the chance to escape. So I took it. A flying leap. Everything shattered... well, you saw. Yes, it was necessary. A door is only a door, after all.
