Artists Way

OK, so this is what I've done.

There are a good few of us now who want to do this together. And I'm stressing the together bit, I don't want to lead it or be in charge or anything. Honestly, trust me. Nothing would get done and we'd be off photographing benches or eating chocolate or something.

So fun as that would be, I've set up a new special blog for us and when I hear from you, I'll make you a co-author and give you passwords etc so you can post as much or as little as you want as you work your way through the book. And then we can all share what we think, how we are doing, any good tips, shouts, moans, artists date, revelations etc etc.

Does that sound good?

Right. First thing to do is for you to email me if you want to be in. Even if you've emailed me before. I did say I shouldn't be in charge. Ooops, no. The first thing to do is to get the book, of course. And have a look at the website first - here. I love it, and take the spirituality she talks about as whatever I want it to mean, but it's not for everyone. All I can say is that it works. And it's fun. And it would be especially fun to do it with you guys.

OK. Anything else?

Yep, start date. It might be a good idea if we all start more or less together. So how about Saturday 28th March for the big lift-off?

I'm sure there's lots else, but I'm equally sure you'll tell me. Anyone who wants to join before 28th March will be very welcome.

Don't see this as something you teach... it is something a person does by working through the book or course... an individual thing. The blogsite would simply be a sharing and 'get together' site once it has been set up.

This certainly should not be a drain on yours or anyone else's resources... kinda defeats the whole premise of the thing... if we were a drain then we'd all collectively be Poisonous Playmates or Crazymakers, the very people you are advised to shed from your life in order to 'unblock'.

Exactly Douglas - although a collective of poisonous playmates sounds like a great story title!!!
Have sent you an invitation - fingers crossed.

If you would take on a newbie, I would love to have a go at the Artists Way. Its been recommended to me on the Creative writing OU course I'm doing at the moment. I can't see how to link to your email though. Thanks, B.

With great pleasure, pinkgecko. The good thing is that it's not competitive, just fun and interesting. My email is sarahsalway@gmail.com.

I'm now paranoid that I am a poisonous playmate! Of course, I agree with Douglas that you should not be drained by the experience. Once again, thank you for setting it up and now you should sit back and unblock! It's going to be interesting.

Oh dear, I've been a bit defensive, haven't I??? No one is poisonous - the opposite. And I'm not expecting to be drained at all - again the opposite. In fact I can't believe my luck that such extraordinary people have agreed to play with me. Seriously.

"I'd like to be in on it too if there is still room - I've just sent you an email" says a little voice from the back of the room with hand tentatively raised.

You would be most welcome, Jem. I'll send you details.

Hi Sarah,
Room for one more?

Should be fine, Duncan. But you'll have to email me so I can send a blog invitation.

I'd like to join in too - if it's not too late.

I'm interested in doing this again. I followed this book faithfully about 15 years ago and have to say it was life changing. Now I'm ready for another change! I'll shoot you an email. Thanks!

Same as Terry I went through the motion of the books when it came out and it was a eye opener to my insites. I would love to do it with a group and see what comes out of it this time. I am not a writer but a fiber artist, I did poetry as my daily pages and sketchings. Can I be part of your group?

Would love to be part of the group. When I was in graphic design school using the Artists Way concept was the only way I made it through the last semester (my father was dying while I was in the last semester.)

Hester from Atlanta, you're very welcome to join us but you need to send me your email so I can officially invite you to the blog.

Sarah, I just discovered your blog - interestingly, I've been interested in doing an artists way workshop for some time now and I actually now have the TIME so...My daughter is in a group in Portland OR and has been encouraging me and I've ordered the book! Is it too late to join? I'll email you with a request as well. Thanks - I'm excited!
