The book you NEED to write...

If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~Toni Morrison

So what's yours? I'll share if you do...

How true! Last September there were no books on the shelves that were about the story I wanted to read. So I'm trying to write it now. I need to remember that I wanted to read my story before I tried to start writing it :)

Yes! I think my 1st 2 books were books I needed to write. But this new one is a book I'd like to read and therefore would like to write...medicine, music and love everlasting. Watch out Wellcome Collection - here I come :-)

I'd love to read a book about a writer obsessed with cupcakes and wine. I'm not sure how interesting that would be to anyone excpet me, though!

Xuxana, yes hurrah - and it means there's a space on those shelves just waiting for your book! Here's a secret - before my first novel came out, I went round bookshops and just made a little gap for where it would be!
And Sue, I live in the Wellcome Institute at the moment. Such a great place to work. Medicine, music and everlasting love... x

Hello Talli, nice to see you here, not least because I am very interested in cupcakes and wine ... Love the blurb on your blog too.

"The Value of Doubt." I even have a title.

Yep, would read that one too Ted. Fiction or non?

I was thinking non - a combo of philosophy, neuroscience/psychology and, who knows what.

I've got a story to tell, in a small way it's my story, but more importantly it's the story of some people who never got to tell their own. I'm working on it but I just haven't quite found the way forward for it yet.

I'd love to be able to write a book which makes people laugh, but which has at its heart all the absurdities, insecurities, fear, despair, sadness that we all, at some time or other experience.
I've no idea how to do this - or even that I wanted to - until I got this irresistable urge to write. I don't know where it comes from, or what to do with it! A friend suggested I start a blog: so I did.
I suppose I look for the magic (or the tragic) in the mundane.
That said, had I a day-job, I would still be firmly clinging to it!
